I'm not sure if this is the right place but I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on baltic amber? I have necklaces for us all, for me it's for my eczema, same for DS2, DS1 just has one because everyone else does :eyeroll: I also have one for DD as they are teething necklaces in the first instance.
I have heard reports from other mums that it has helped with the pain of teething, but DD is yet to start so I have no experience myself.
I guess I just want to know that they do no harm?

No harm... all I have heard is them being used with amazing results on conditions especially with children...
This is a resin we are talking about, I think you are pretty safe.:)

I would recommend New Era tissue salts teething formula for teething in children. We used it on our three with great results. They are sac lac pills so just melt in the mouth so ideal for babies. Its what most homeopaths would use for their own children.

I use both. Amber necklace AND teething salts. I had 3 days of lost necklace during eye teeth and OMG I am CONVINCED they work...............
I have never read anything about them being bad for the body....... the enviroment, well thats a totally different story

Yes I've heard New Era is good and I do use their salts for other things sometimes, but with DS2 I had a special "potion" concocted by my homeopath which seemed to work quite well as he wasn't too bad through teething. I do have some of it left too so am happy to use it with DD.
I will continue to use the necklaces then, thanks :D
I have to say they've not done anything for my eczema at all, DS2's skin is looking pretty good although with his food allergies well in check it's only his environmentals that trigger outbreaks and that's more a spring/summer thing so I guess he can just keep wearing it and we'll find out in a few months how it works on that front!
3M do you keep it on your babies 24/7? I know some leave it on to sleep, others only day sleeps and others still take them off every sleep. I'm not sure which camp I fall into to be honest

yep, Kate wears here 24/7, About once a week I just check to make sure its still screwed up nice and tight. Also they are designed to break iin they get caught and they are individually beaded. Kates has come off once or twice at night but since checking it regularly she has been fine. She has worn it constantly for over a year now.

this is funny.
I have NO IDEA what you're talking about.
I wonder how my kids survived without Amber beads? :giggle:
But then, my kids never had teething issues. :alien:

Not all children have teething issues.
I wonder where the amber necklace thing came from? I heard about it from an anthroposophist (follower of Rudolf Steiner), but some stuff that is credited to Steiner is actually traditional folk wisdom.

My son never had teething issues. But my girls...... OMG, do they teeth badly. 4 teeth to go and we are DONE......... but now my oldest has a wiggly tooth so maybe we are just swapping one phase for the next :)

My eldest was ATROCIOUS for his first 8 teeth but then didn't notice the rest of them
DS2 was average I guess, some gave him grief, some didn't. So I guess I'm just wanting to make sure I'm prepared if she is a bad teether
I get precious little sleep as it is and often have toothpicks holding the eyelids up which is NOT good when doing afternoon kindy runs! :coffee:
So I'm hoping that if she does have problems I can do something to at least protect the precious little sleep I do get!

Neither of my two had issues teething whatsover either. I kinda wanted them to so I could have an excuse to buy an amber necklace though...:giggle:

I've got several necklaces with amber pendants and stuff. It is actually okay to buy amber just because you like it!
