In my home we have just all had a dose of the Flu, colds and now a cough :(
It started with a runny nose, then fevers.
I though we were pretty healthy too, eats lots of fresh fruit and vegies etc. I also was sneaking Olive leaf in their morning juice twice a week :D
But, we all got sick, i think me the worst. I was better for 2 days, then bamm it is back , well nasal congestion and sore eyes....
The girls, well DD1 and DD3 has a cough just at night now. They will not cough during the day though, at around midnight they will cough.
DD1, will bring up phlegm with hers ( not green). It does not go on for long at night, and does not seem to hurt her. We give her homeopathic stuff and it seem to eork.
DD3 is pretty much the same. She is being Bfeed and the first nights she was a little sick after a cough , but now she does not bring anything up, though it sounds like there is mucous there. I give her brauersliquid cough , which seem to help.
Is there anything i can give for this at night cough ?
Question 2 - Vitamin C :
What is a good maintenance level of Vit c for children ( how often when not sick) ? The girls do eat lots of fresh fruit too.
Also, when they get sick . Do you give it when you see the first sign of a runny nose and through the illness ?
I have read about the Calcium abscorbate (sp) issue and have chucked out powder one in bin . But, we have the tablets ( sodium ascorbic 265mgs and ascorbic acid 265mg's ) , this is on bottle.
Are these not any good ?
Do HFS sell pure 100% sodium ascorbic ?
Sorry for all the questions, but i am a sponge for wanting to heal my family and not use crappy drugs for them :mad:
Thanks

All through a virus I hit the Vit C... at 1000mgs every hour for the grown ups... 500mgs every hour for the children (9,11)
I also give them a shot glass with Malcolm Harkers Eutherol and mix in about two teaspoons of colloidal silver... about every three hours.
If we had a cough then I would get his Lung elixer.. if you are out of NZ then you can order off internet site.
I would make a mixture of almond oil with a few drops of peppermint and eucalyptus EO added and rub into the back and chest. I would also get them to have a shower with a cup of boiling water in the bottom with about ten drops of Thyme EO and get them to breath deeply... oh and for me too.
I'm always pleased when the cough comes... shows me it's working it's way out.
Someone else can answer the VIT C question my dinger is going on my oven.

Thanks magical1. Is Colloidal silver okay for kids ?
I gave DD1 a EO rub with eucalyptus and olive oil on it ( will add peppermint to it), but DD3 comes out in a rash when EO's go near her skin. I once put Lavender in a bath and the next day she was covered head to toe in spots
Oh, with homeopathics are there any out there in tablet form that does not contain Lactose ( DD2 is intolerant, she get a running bum and i suspect DD3 is the same as too much and her bum is red raw and the poo is huge mess:eek: .

We never use homeopathic tablets. only fluid.
I've never used colloidal silver on children so don't know.
Those tablets sound okay, and HFS should sell sodium ascorbate.
I wouldn't actually have chucked out the calcium ascorbate. If there is nothing else around, it can be used in acute situations. Where you don't want to use CA is constantly, long term, if you are using vitamin C because you need to. But short bursts of calcium ascorbate is okay. You just have to use about twice as much as you would use for SA.
Maintenance doses is a hard issue, because everyone's need for vitamin C is different. If your children eat lots of fresh uncooked fruit and vegetables, and their gums don't bleed when they brush their teeth, then chances are the don't need a "maintenance" dose. It's mainly in illness when bodies start increasing their need for vitamin C and other nutrients, so that's the time I'd be more likely to supplement... or if their daily schedule is very very stressful, ... then I'd add some in. So I'm not someone who recommends a daily shovel of supplements. :D Sensible diet, organically where possible, with as wide a variety of foods as possible should cover most things.

Oops on the Calcium A :giggle:,but will go to the HFS to get some of the other kind anyhow...
No bleeding gums here, so i would say i will drop the daily dosage and only give when sick... Kids do eat lots of organic uncooked fruit and veg and no junk stuff either. They have a very healthy diet :)
Oh, the cough - I did the shower thing tonight with DD1 and she coughed up some stuff in the shower. Also put EO mix on chest and DD3 has some on a hanky. Hopefully they have a better night...

Well, last night DD1's cough was not so bad ( DH was oblivious she coughed at all:)). I rubbed EO on chest before she went to bed and did shower thing too. i did give her a tissue salt remedy at about 4am, but probably did not have too.
DD3 only coughed twice and not too bad. She seemed to sleep much better too. DD3, i give her a Inner Health Probiotic about twice a week. I will do the daily thing from now on...:o
Will be going to HFS tomorrow so will get silver then..

Tell you what I think is the hardest supplement to remember to give my children everyday is a probiotic... It's in the fridge so I tend to forget it's there etc etc... plus I need to mix it into something like juice or a smoothie for it to be palatable... So just try your best I get that it's not easy.
I do find though that this one... Threelac takes all that away. It is in ready measured nice tasting sachets, it isn't stored in a fridge and it kicks butt! It really works. It's not cheap though... if it was then it would be perfect.

It seems to make my children just that bit more robust I feel... and I feel a huge difference while I'm on it.

Magical i was interested in this threelac you are talking about but on searching for information i came across a few articles where people had had reactions and how it has been banned in some countries so now i am a bit skeptical.
Have you heard of any bad stories relating to this product?
How did you get put onto it?
Here's one of the stories i came across

I've always found Threelac fantastic for both my chronic thrush, which I no longer suffer from, and for my children especially if they have stomach bugs. I had instant relief from using the product and now have used it on and off for years for maintenance. When you get the product you get really good information which is excellent. It sounds to me like the person in the article went in all guns blazing and didn't ease into it. In saying all that we are all different and one mans meat is another mans poison. If you are really interested in finding out more about the product go to www.return2health.co.nz (http://www.return2health.co.nz) and they will answer any questions you may have. This is where I order mine from. Because I feel I no longer suffer from Candida I am more likely to use probiotic yoghurts to maintain a good happy colony in my gut everyday and use the Threelac very rarely. If Ollie (13) my boy who is has gut problems has a griping colon I give it to him and he is good within half an hour. Remember that many very good products are being banned all over the world everyday. it means very little.
