There are so many things which could be said to have the role of an adjuvant in many different biochemical contexts. When you look at minerals and vitamins, often one can be an "adjuvant" for another; a simple thing like X bacteria are required to manufacture vitamin B's which are use to ..... and so it goes on. Without so many things, other things wouldn't "fire".
