Does anyone else here eat fish roe? Want to share any recipes?
Salmon roe is quite strong flavoured so I make taramasalata ( which I can't spell ) with it. Basically throw it raw in the blender with some sour cream, lemon juice & some garlic. Season to taste with salt, pepper & maybe parsley. I think you are supposed to put bread crumbs in too but we are GF so I don't bother. I eat this with oven chips or over veges. Sometimes I just panfry salmon roe in butter & eat it for breakfast.
I have been getting brill roe sometimes which is much milder. It looks really ugly so you need to get past that. If you panfry it with brill in butter & then eat it out of the pan it is delicious. Kinda like egg yolk almost. I think it would most likely make nice taramasalata as well but I would rather eat it on its own until I get bored of it.
I was given some smoked cod roe the other day which has been frozen so I am thinking of trying a variation of this recipe

If I have any left I may try some fritters of some kind with it.
