I knew what vaccines I had had but not how many doses. Now I know but two seem kind of scary and I question why I had so many...

I was born in 1969. Any vaccines given at/beyond 1974 were done in school. (except for anything after 1987) I remember the times we were rounded up like cattle for school vaccine day. If you didn't need a shot, you went anyways and stood around and watched the other kids get 'shot up', and you still got a sticker:eyeroll:

OPV..6 doses!!?? 3 doses in 1969(all 1 month apart), 2 in 1971 (2 months apart) and 1 in 1974.

Why so many?? That is what they are giving children in India and/or other. polio was not a big issue in the USA by the 70's.

The 3 older kids had OPV as babies but only 3 doses in the 90's.

DPT...5 doses!! 3 doses in 1969, 1 dose in 1971 and 1 dose in 1974.

DT 1 dose in 1986

Measles..1 dose in 1970

Mumps..1 dose in 1975

Rubella..1 dose in 1971

Smallpox(which I still remember well because it hurt so bad! and have the branded mark) Feb. 1972

Not on the record but I had...

MMR in 1988 for college entry.
Rubella vaccine in 1993 post-pardum because I showed no immunity.
Tetanus vaccine in the early 90's for I forget what..probably a simple cut.

regardless of my vax status, I still had M M R, CP(was no vax),WC, and mor than likely Diphtheria or like condition because I suffered from tonsilitis repeatedly.

By all accounts I should be dead or very ill right:cool:

Which underscores that some people have the constitution of an ox. The reality is that most people do survive their vaccines. The other reality is that they never consider whether or not the minor things, or repeated things that happen to them afterwards are vaccine related.

Two older staff members from Starship, who came to the doctors talk, told me that the worst years of their lives, healthwise, were in 1987, when they had 3 Hepatitis B shots, and the Menomune A vaccine during the same winter.

I think some people think they have the constitution of an ox but just get used to feeling like crap ALL THE TIME.

get used to feeling like crap ALL THE TIME.
Tthat would be me cause my immune system sucks. Dh born the same year as I, did not get as many, not even the smallpox. Wonder if it was because he was a premie:confused: And he rarely ever gets sick.

I still don't get the 6 OPV's :confused::confused::confused: But obviously I can't do anything about it now.

because in 69 you got the injectable SALK vaccine which was useless only they didn't tell your mammy that. So they got you to have the SABIN, on the basis that the previous three were junk. :D

Non PC explanation.

I thought that only kids that were going overseas got smallpox vaccine in NZ? I know that I went on a ship to the UK when I was a baby and I still have the scar of my smallpox injection from before we departed.

Is that right MT or is that an urban myth?

We had to have smallpox when we came here in 1961.

In 1970 something I was thinking about going overseas, and yes, was administed another smallpox

I remember reading somewhere that people were supposed to be revaxed with smallpox every three years! I don't think anyone ever managed to get things going at that level though, except perhaps in the military.
