I have "discovered" this wonderful groundcover for gardens, suitable for around bigger plants like landcress, cabbages, lavender, or almost anything like that.
You plant viola tricolour and wild strawberry. Both little plants are prolific and robust spreaders. They will cover up all the ground in a patch within one year, and they make a very pretty combination. You can eat the flowers of viola in salads, and of course the wild strawberries have lovely little strawberries.
This "groundcover" doesn't compete with bigger plants, and won't hurt them, but will attract beneficial insects, and will prevent the soil from getting dry. Plus it looks very pretty. ;)
