It is back. Soon after my daughter was born (Jan 07) I became almost crippled with arthritis very suddenly (straight after mastitis and an extended course of abs for it). Inflammation counts going through the roof on blood tests and the doctors unable to diagnose or evenh recommend what to do. My Dad came and helped look after the house and my children and we were very lucky that our daughter was a happy baby and a fairly good sleeper.

The key to change that time was that I was already seeing a reflexologist and she did a lot of lymphatic drainage work on me. She was so loving as well and came to the house to treat me (she lived 70 mins' drive away).

I did make a good recovery and as I slowly learnt more about rheumatoid arthritis, I began to make a health journey of my own about vaccines/antibiotics/anaesthetics and other health issues. It was a breakthrough in the puzzle when I found that rheumatoid arthritis is linked to immune (dis)function. Says something how long it took me to find that connection.

So now it is back. Not dramatically as in wake up and can't turn my head like last time but it is there alright and it is not welcome! Donna the reflexologist is not working at the moment and I am fortunate to be seeing Laskme, a skilled holistic therapist who has a strong background in nutrutional therapy.

I've been reading online and understanding more why she wants me to eat celery all the time. She is also wanting me to include lots of ginger, bone broths and seaweed in my meals. She has also stressed lots and lots of leafy greens and again I am appreciative of how my efforts in the garden are paying off in terms of being able to eat fresh salad twice daily.

and I'm about to collect some feverfew from the garden and chew it. I am already liking nettle tea most evenings and now see it's benefits. Usefully, I have two enormous celery plants in the garden and several smaller ones getting ready for later in the season.

I would really appreciate anyone else's stories, comments relating to this topic and these herbs. I am making sushi more often already and hope to incorporate more meals rich in the super foods for RA - any suggestion will be gratefully received.

I think that you should look into a good systemic enzyme...now I have just started taking this myself as I've had a few falls lately in the bush and am suffering a bit of pain in various places and have a skin cancer on the back of my hand... so I could say "oh it is amazing" but I wouldn't say that about anything till I'd taken it for at least 6 months. Somewhere in the depths of my memory I recall high doses of vitamin C being beneficial for RA so maybe another avenue to look into.

Now this is from my healer guy in Canada... He always gives a wide range of options so take what you like from it

would not let her eat sushi---but that is me( minimizing any kind of parasite potential )---utilze wheat germ oil to rebuild the myelin sheath around the nerves and utilizing the connections or nerves and dendrites -----also consider cdp citcoline or alpha gpc---Benfotiamine + serrepeptase will do good as renewing strenght throughout the body----STAY AWAY FROM SOY AND CANOLA ---this will reduce and break down the system and not allow for absorption of manganese and zinc iodine calcium or magnesium---which are all required for nerve and cellular and bone and organ health---if zinc and manganese are deficient then the SOD levels in muscle will not be there and the free radical build up could cause pain and lack of immobility

Fats I would definitely incorporate would be palm oil ( enriched with all 8 components of vitamin E) beta carotene and lycopene--again this assist the fats and free radical scavenging required as well strenghtening internal organs heart --lung ---brain
walnut oils ( omega 3 ) I do not advocate the fish oils --in canada 32 brands were tested and were not supposed to have mercury in them ---they all did---so if you do insist on using these oils then the vitamin C needs to be increased to a minimal of 3+grams a day in divided dose to scavenge the mercury out of the body and again to reduce inflammation caused by the mercury

Utilize gelatin with the bone broths ---it is a good idea to have this to reconnect the sinews and strenghtening the system and gelatin also reconstructs the stomach by converting to chondroitin and collagen---most asrthritis is a result of the stomach lining not having enough of either of these components and the system draw this out---from whereever or the easiest pathway ( most have hip spine and hand issues as a result of this)

I am an advocate of RAW UNPASTEURIZED MILK it is a renewer of the body--have seen this cure cancer as well it is an easy absorbable sourse of nutrition and even those who are "lactose Intolerant" find they can drink this due to the fact it is not processed and glycated ( sugar bound to protein) and the omega 3 content in grass fed raw milk is 13 times higher then fish

juicing carrots and apples and cherries ( cherries have salycites ( pain killers) will help
celery to consume is the asian source the american ones are useless the one from asia is higher in the profile for nutrient dense restoration---

Soups--- broths---teas would be high----using not only nettle but combo it with burdock and parsley
juices to consider are watercress parsley and dandelion combo ( www.youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com/) then type in herbsplusbeadworks ) you can see how to make it there plus 47 other vids---

For pain, if it becomes a real issue utilize DLPA it is a natural pain killer composed of 2 amino acids the right and left of phenylanine and it is equivalent to morphine --but without any addictive side effects and can be combo'd with other ove the counter meds

Juicing as well would be good with oranges and lemons ( 2 oranges to 1 lemon) and add 1 tsp of olive oil with this to clear out the intestinal build up in the lower end of the GI trac

Protein source should be light animal proteins such as fish ( cooked) or poultry or eggs ---any yogurt unsweetened and nothing sugar free or fat free---cottage cheese with walnut oil or olive or pumpkin seed oils or any oil you like other then vegetable or canola which are toxic http://augmentinforce.50webs.com (http://augmentinforce.50webs.com/) and look up the soy and canola links to see why
Seed milks would be good ( a good combo would be walnut --amond and pumpkin seed) this has all you r 3-6-9 oils --good levels of mineral anddd protein---you can make it plain or add vanilla or unpasteurized honey to it if you think you need it

carbs chould be with fibres---do not eat watermelon ---grapes--- bananas or corn
apples --pears---peaches--plums---papaya( sprinkl cinnamon on it and a touch of red pepper---extremely effective pain reducer or analgesic) pineapple ( add a touch of tumeric and black pepper will see similar results like the papaya) kiwi --eat your heart out on this good proteolytic enzymes and good source of potassium which is required to reduce bone loss and to maintain a good electrical balance to the nerve endings and cells

it depends what it is caused by. My RA was caused by the rubella shot. If you've read my first book, you know the story.

vitamin C nuked it, because it was an antigen/antibody complex.

Later when it came back it was a grain/sugar issue.

Thank you very much for all of your replies. I appreciate them greatly. I have started to source and read further on all the suggestions above and will report back as I progress to better health. Today I started swimming and felt better for it. Laskme advised that swimming is good for lymphatic drainage. Great stress reliever as well.

Any comments on hyaluronic acid?

Hello Sandra17!

I know this thread is a bit older, but as I am a new member and living with RA, I can tell you that the one thing that has so far helped me over the years, in regards to pain management as well as keeping the inflammations down is yoga!
I do it every morning for about 45 minutes to an hour. If I do skip it for a while, for any reason, like during vacation time, it takes me again longer to recover. When my RA really hit me a few years ago, I could barely walk, forget stairs. The one person who was able to help was a professional acupuncturist, he also recommended to me to start with yoga so I strengthen my bones, joints and ligaments. I am mentioning a "professional" acupuncturist, because I have as of lately seen an outbreak of "weekend acupuncturists" here in our area of the US, ...which is scary!
Not sure where you are located, but if you consider an acupuncturist check on his experience and education level! This is not something you can learn via distance learning in a month.
Luckily my RA is not that bad now that I need to take anything for it or alter my lifestyle too much, but I do stay away from soy products (for various reasons) and other processed foods as much as possible. I also discovered that too much caffeine intake makes my symptoms worse, ...including chocolates. :oops:
