Has anyone seen this ??? I just read it on mercola and he quotes dr. Cannell.

Sooo, I just wish I knew more about vitamin A&D.
I know that vitamin A & D is really important for growing kids and most people are deficient in A as well as D.
I always thought that cod liver oil was one of the best natural sources for both in a good balance.
Haven't foods high in both A &D been prized and sought after for pregnant women and babies in tribal cultures all around the world?
Hasn't cod liver oil been used for so long with such good outcomes? My mil remembers her grandmother forcing her to take it ....and my mil is in her 80's...
someone please shed some light on this for me.
I know that mercola makes money from promoting the products he sells and pushes that a lot and I don't know if this is a prelude to some new product or what.
He quotes dr. Cannell who is the vitamin D dr.
I think there must be other factors not taken into consideration here and I am hoping someone here can fill in tha gaps that I am missing.

I've just had a quick read through the actual study and can only find vitamin A mentioned in one sentence. The main finding of the study is people with adequate levels of circulating vitamin D are less likely to get colon cancer. No surprises there. :tired:
I also doubt the study differentiates between natural and synthetic vitamin A. The WAPF people probably have more info on that one. I'm still happy to take my CLO, I just make sure to get one with no synthetics added.

I'd really like som emore info about Vit. D as well. I seem to read about it here and there, and I feel like, being a hermit here in the middle east...either it's too hot to go outside or too clouded over and rainy. lol. So I'm worrying that my kids (and I) am not getting enough.

Anyone else noticed Dr Mercola is selling a nano tech delivery Vitamin D3 spray on his website?
Somewhat concerning as nano tech has never proven to be safe IMO.

I'm not a big Mercola fan, meself Me neither :bag:
I really need the :hiding under chair smiley as I tend to sunbed when it gets real overcast, gloomy & wintery. It may be psychological but it works for me.
ETA: The kids lunchtimes at school coincide with our only times you can get vit D from the sun in the winter & I have removed them off the sunblock register.

so that's why Iam hesitant about what he says, but dr Cannell on the other hand is supposed to know what he is talking about.....
But Cannell also _almost_ says that autism is vitamin D deficiency in people with susceptible genetics which is such an over-simplification of the issues involved as to be mind-boggling. And is really not knowledgeable on related topics. The further he strays from vitamin D, the less I listen.
Again and again, I'm drawn to the basic lessons coming from the world of ASD and biomed treatments. People have seen improvements in their kids with vitamin A, and vitamin D, and zinc and folate and lots of nutrients, and gut health, and avoiding commonly problematic foods, and it's complicated, with different things for different families. Common themes, but particulars vary.
I read a bit, and the study really doesn't discuss retinol much. I couldn't tell if this was only food vitamin A, or nutritional supplements as well, or beta-carotene dietary retinol equivalents (the multiplier to translate beta-carotene ingested to retinol the body _should_ make with it). I think the other arguments for vitamin A are stronger than this brief reference.

IMO, Cannell has D on the brain to the extent where it fogs any other thought process.

Pretty good. Is it :couch: I have to confess, I do actually really love my sunbed. I also co-incidentally read something somewhere about phototherapy & weight loss which was only a very small study but interesting all the same. THe idea being we are preprogrammed to put on weight for the winter so decreasing daylight made us put on weight.

Also ( sorry ) found something on stuff today which will make you go " I told you so" but someone apparently discovered the nano particles in sunscreen are unsafe. yay! titanium dioxide for example which is in alot of the natural sunscreens.
can you steer me to more info on the nano research. I use a colloidal silver, "silverbiotics" which uses nano particles at a much lower dose than the other "silvers" and really works well for sick kids, so I need to find out more, I actually thought this one is safer than many others.......
Isn't the liposomal c also nano technology??
I love using the lipo c for my little one, when he gets colds etc; it is so easy to get vitamin c in him this way?
what are some of the problems with nano?

There def seem to be some safety concerns
Yes. I use lipo-c as well. This is something to look into further

Its all down to the size of the particle, colloidal silver is not the same as these new nano silvers on the market.
My CS maker only produces colloidal not nano particle silver.
