Hi,

My friend's 14 yr old daughter is being vaccinated with Gardasil this afternoon at Massey High School, Auckland. :saddest: I did not say anything, I held my opinions.

Anyway she told me that the uptake is very low - only 15% in her class. Not many parents are signing the consent form. :)

I could'nt believe it only 15%.

What do you think, good news?

Wonderful news ! - my daughters class is due to have theirs next term. Haven't heard how many will be getting it - only know for sure that mine won't.

School Vaccinations (on site) have always made me cringe... thats how I got bullied into the MMR in '91 - I remember the principal at the time letting all us girls know that we would die of measles or our children in the years to come would all be born disfigured and disabled... yup those words .. it wasn't even my choice.. mother signed the form and I got stabbed.. (strange she even signed it as well considering our history, mine in particular)

School vaccinations have always had relatively low uptake here in Australia, but mainly because parents choose to vaccinate with their doctor and not at school. So by the time schools would get their ducks in a row and send the consent forms out, most kids would have already been done and the parents write no thank you.

Found this out as the relevant government committee called us on a Sunday night :) after we refused one of the shots - to explain that 'whatever our doctor gave us is not the same thing' :P
