Netball shoes

I need to buy dd some shoes to play netball in. Now I know running barefoot is better but netball is played on a hard man made surface & has a fair bit of impact. I am going to research it some more myself but wanted to put it out there in case anyone had any thoughts?

Two options. Divert child away from netball - or comform to the system's view of official netball shoes :willynilly:

I am way too into exercise to divert a child of mine away from any sport! She is pretty keen as well so is not really needing encouragement. I am gonna go check out the sports shoes shops & see what I can find. I'll read some more about barefoot running & see how/if it applies to netball. I may also talk to my course tutor who has some vibrams & also has children & see what he has to say too.

There's a thing called peer group pressure. There is no way she would wear vibrams on court. The kids would give her stick, I bet.

I don't think they do them in her size anyways. Not that I could afford a kids pair as she would probably grow out of them before she wore them out. I meant more a shoe with a minimal sole. She would wear a pair of vibrams if I got her some as she is quite into borrowing mine to wander around the house. She's actually got quite a good sense of dress independant of any coaching by me & is very individualistic so I am sure she would be fine.

Playing on concrete, as the kids do, rips shoes to shreds too. I was lucky if my shoes lasted a season anyway.

what she might wear around the house, she might not wear within the eye-see, and ear-shot of kids :D
