DD1 ( 6) has a cough. She came down with a stomach bug on thursday ( vomited twice and generally off colour) and had a fever. Then on Sunday the cough started, she was bringing up mucous, it was clear. When she coughs it is sometimes like she holds her breathe .
At night she coughed Sunday early morning and Monday night she slept all night.
Her appetite has been great too.

Went to the DR and she checked her and her chest was clear, but her temp was 37 and. She said was she vaccinated and i said NO, so then she said she may have whooping cough ( well the start of anyway).
If i had of said she was vaccinated i would be interested what she would have said then ???
She gave us a Antibiotic script, but being a long time lurker her, i will not be filling that :pleased:

Okay, can you still get it without actually having a cold ?

She also goes to school, do i keep her home. Even though it is not a positive she has it??

I highly doubt this is WC. I mean it doesn't sound like it. And I would also chuck this doc based on the outright claim that since she has not been vaxed, she has WC! And good for you for not filling the prescription. If you read the pertussis threads carefully, you will see why antibiotics will not help but only exacerbate the problem if at all she has WC. If you think she's down with something, keep her at home till the time you feel she's regained strength. Increase her Vitamin C intake to help her deal with the cough.

Good luck!

Thanks for that. I should have answered the DR with Yes, she is vaccinated and then she would have probably NOT said WC !!
She also based it on that she has seen a few people that have hadWC, but that also maybe based on her the DR NOT actually tests coming back positive IYKWIM.

Last night DD only coughed at 9.30pm, then not until 4am and has not coughed since . She seem very perky this morning....
