I've tried searching but not having much luck. I'm sure MT posted a link here last year (before winter I think) that talked of the immune benefits and in particular about it's link to avoiding pneumonia (that was just one part I remembered about the article, but it's for it's all round easy read that I am after that one in particular). A friend's dd suffers from chronic fatigue and I thought this article might help her dd realise that she needs to get outside in the sun as well as just the fresh air (ie she sits all bundled up) yet is vit D deficient, and thought if she had some info to make an informed choice on that side of things it could help? I've also got her mum looking into probiotics for her.

Hmmm. I think I've posed heaps on vitamin D. Wonder where I would have put it? Trouble is that chronic fatigue is a lot more complicated than vitamin D. CF requires huge doses of vitamin C and all the major minerals. BUT the first thing people with CF have to do is deal with their constipation if they have it. BTDT

THanks MT! I'll keep having a hunt around for it.

I will let the mum know about the constipation thing and if it is something they need to deal with.

She is also looking at magnesium too (can that be used for dealing with constipation, or does it just laxate and not actually fix the problem?).

I've pointed her in the direction of looking at candida/probiotics etc. But it seems that she is working with a bit of a stubborn teenager (who obviously doesn't want to be sick, but is having trouble seeing the wood for the trees at the moment).

Is the CFS as a result of Glandular Fever?

She did get knocked by a fluey virus about a year ago that was the start of it. She is homeschooled, so at least can take things easy as she needs to. She's not constipated either. The mum's tried conventional medicine, homeopathy, a specialist in Akld and is now about to contact some guy in Napier or Hastings who sells some mineral supplement and has a programme for CF.

Just found out it was glandular fever that she got.

Poor kid is really unwell with dizziness, wobbling and vomiting. Has the odd good day, but more often than not, they are bad where she can hardly move from her bed.

does she use sodium ascorbate? CFS after EBV responds really well to that, as a starter. It stabilised the blood pressure, and I'd be using buckwheat pancakes.

OK, I'll talk to them about the SA. So you mean high-dosing it to bowel tolerance every day until the body indicates it can tolerate less? So buckwheat pancakes significant if BP is high? I notice that buckwheat is also high in flavonoids. Thanks!
