Just wanted to ask for a bit of advice ..

My 2 year old has had mushy, runny poos for almost a week now. She's doing about 2 a day. They REALLY are foul smelling.

Other than this she seems fine - playing, normal eating, usual 2 yr old antics, no lethargy at all .

We are keeping up fluids - water + she is still BF'ing regularly. She's not vaxxed at all.

Ive read not to give any raw fruit and veg while diarrhoea is occurring but don't know if that's BS ?
I have been. as that's a huge part of her diet.

Google just makes you more worried and I'm not THAT worried enough to take her to the doc's... but should I be ?

I read about magical's concoction in another thread .. I might give that a whirl in the morning.

Anyone experienced this at all ? I know there is probably many, many possibilities of what it could be.

Hi, was the concoction the BRAT diet? That's Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Raspberry jam on the toast is good, and possibly honey? And probiotics.
I know that smell (I'm sure most of us do) and it's rather yucky-makes me want to throw up. My boys had an awful bought of that and I figured it was Roto, but never took them to get tested, so I don't know for certain. The one who was still breastfeeding recovered quicker-he was about 16m old. I think it took a few weeks to get everything back to order. If it had gone on longer, or they had been acting sick, I would have taken them to the dr?

Some people feel that raw fruits and vegetables are more difficult to digest, would that be the reason to avoid them now? My family's digestion isn't great and I think we do better on cooked veggies--we eat some fruit, and that's mostly raw, but less than we used to, as a compromise.

If it's really foul, maybe it's rotavirus, and that just seems to take a while to get over. For digestive upsets, homemade stock and probiotic foods are helpful for us.

For my kids, I'd look for a natural progression in getting past the illness. Timeframe's hard to judge, and if I suspected rota, I'd probably give it more time than I otherwise would, and just do normal supportive stuff.

bbrandonsmom - the concotion is the apple cider vinegar, vit c and bi carb. Haven't tried it as yet.

That's the thing that's stumped me a bit with this , her intake of food hasn't changed at all ? you would think it would if you had diarrhoea.

She has just exuded a thunderous one now (OMG - the smell ! :dork:)

Thanks TanyaL and bbm. I'll try everything over the next couple of days and I'm sure (as H would say ) her little system will do the rest !

I'd be doing a brat diet I think, and also putting in probiotics.

Thanks, Hilary. I will do that. Makes most sense.

Have been reading ...It may be rotavirus.

I personally, besides the probiotics and simple diet like to use green healing clay for tummy bugs.
Adding a little to applesauce is supposed to be good for diarrhea as it binds with the pectin.
