I hate introductions. I never know what to say! I have a wide range of interests and passions. At the moment I'm a web designer, birthkeeper, artist, writer and crazy mower residing in Australia. The grass where I live grows like crazy so I have to mow like crazy to keep it down. Keeping grass short is supposed to contribute to keeping the place snake un-friendly which is important given 2 kids and close proximity to canefields!

I look forward to meeting more people and learning from each one of you in this community!

Oh I hear you about the grass atm! We could graze a couple of small cows on our suburban block!

Just think about the compost you could make with it though... cow poo and grass, weeds leaves and next thing your vege garden is loving you.

That is why it takes me so long to mow as well - I use a catcher so I can save the grass and take it to my grass pile to save for later compost!

All I can say is Ewww, snakes. I still remember running off and yelling at my mom that I'd seen a rattle snake after seeing a garter one at a campground as a kid. Imagine my embarassment when the park warden even came to check it out.

So, yeah, I'd be mowing the grass like mad too. :D

(And I hate intro's too, which is why I'm replying to your's before doing my own. :p)

Lol poo in the house. Sounds like you had a fly by crapping :LMAO:We left the window screens open once at our old house and a bird flew in and around, shat a few times then flew out the other window. It was so hilarious!

I think I saw a rat under the house last night. I've been at the real estate agency to remove the debris from under the house. I dont want a home for spiders, snakes and rats under the house. Arrrg.

I don't like doing intros either. Pleased to meet you :D I don't have much grass. My lawn mowers are very enviromentally friendly. One is little, fat, spotty & tends towards being bad tempered & the other is bigger & white ( or grey as the horsey people would call him ) & as old as the hills. He is a total sweetheart. Don't get snakes here but I came home today to find a bird in the house. The cat literally became airborne in one quick leap & it was in his mouth. Thankfully it was not a native bird. He can be very feral for a fancy cat. Do you get cane toads if you are near a cane field?

Hehe, we have a horse for a lawnmower at our place. She does a good job of eating the grass, not the veges or herbs!

May I ask, Quickening, what is a "birthkeeper"? :)

Its a doula - a support person for birth. Although I don't really like the term doula as many doulas won't support women REGARDLESS of what choices she makes ie if she homebirths or freebirths. I say its not up to doulas or any certifying body to make that choice for women, its up to the women, and as support I will be there for them.

I'm actually surprised by the LACK of canetoads around here. We had more when I was living in the nightmare of suburbaria. We have a few hop by at night but nothing like the colony that was living in my backyard at my previous place!

I love the term birthkeeper :)

I love the concept birthkeeper.

Luckily my midwife was one of those. My birth could have been very different other wise.

The social/physiological processes around birth in the Western world in the 21st century absolutely fascinate me (and horrify sometimes!)

Where have all the cane toads gone to I wonder? A birthkeeper sounds wonderful. I could have done with one instead of my midwives.

Karamea my horsey lawnmowers only shortfall is they sometimes tread on plants I want. Oh & occasionally itch themselves on fruit trees & break them. Plus the odd excursion into the vege patch to eat the peas. But by & large, they definitely earn their keep :D
