Hey, everyone. My name is Lexie. DH and I have a 7 month old daughter--my one and only, his fourth child. We co-sleep, cloth diaper, don't vaccinate, and exclusively breastfeed. We'll be starting elimination communication soon too.

I'm vegan, so my DD is too. My DH is not. He's about as mainstream as you can get and I'm probably about as unorthodox as they come. Sometimes I wonder how we deal with the differences. We pretty much disagree on everything health related, but I have at least shown him that vitamin C can cure the dental abscesses he used to frequently suffer from.

I'm a SAHM and my DH works at a security firm. I'm waiting for my DD to get a bit older before I start going to college for a degree in accounting. I'd prefer to become a naturopath, but then I'd want to go study in Australia or New Zealand which we can't afford.

I have endometriosis, PCOS, asthma, numerous allergies, and I'm lactose intolerant. I like to fast now and then to detox, but I only just learned about chelation, so that's my next goal--whenever my DD weans herself. That probably won't be anytime soon.

I consider myself very well read on medical literature stemming from a very early interest in it. As a child, I thought I would grow up to be a vet. Always the animal lover...but my main focus changed to people as I got sicker.

welcome Lexie. I thought WA was Western Australia but me thinks I may be wrong.

Anyway look forward to getting to know you.

Doh, I should have cleared that up. I meant the hippie state--Washington. :D

And thanks!

Welcome Lexie :)

You had me confused for a minute there as well - here I was thinking that Perth had some fantastic naturopathic colleges :giggle:

Welcome!

I have a friend who loathes and despises abbreviations and acronyms. What a wonderful demonstration of the potential difficulties.

We are on opposite sides of the continent, I'm in VT.

Nice to see you here.

You know, I usually do too. I got used to using WA for my address. :mallet: Few people expect you to spell it out. And then after I made the first post, I realized the board was an 'Australian & New Zealand based community.' I feel like such a doorknob. :kick:

But hi... :)

I suffer from a different problem.

When both Australians and Americans order books from my website (http://www.beyondconformity.org.nz/books), they often fail to put in the state abbreviations. I guess they think that people who write books are also mindreaders :p

Wow, strange thing to forget...

Can you set up the web-site so the order won't be accepted without complete information? Some of the online order forms won't go through if all of the areas aren't filled in.

But that is a strange thing to forget. Do they put in their zip-code? If you've got the zip-code there must be a web-site that reverse engineers to give you the state...let me have a look...yep:

http://www.zipinfo.com/search/zipcode.htm

type in the zip-code, get back the city and state. No need to read minds!

Today, a parcel was returned because on the orderform the person wrote IL 71414.

So I sent it to USA.

Naturally.

Except it was Israel. So now I have to resend.

Sigh.

Hi Lexie!
I'm down under you... in California. :D
Glad to meet you.

Hi! I've been kinda considering moving there at some point! I think I'd miss having a white xmas though. :(

California is not flat, my dear. We got a bit of snow right before Christmas - we loved it. Do check out the Sierra Nevada foothill and mountain communities - instead of the coastal villages. :D

If you want to move here in the next 5 years, be prepared to bring your own income -- the economy is the pits, and taxes are about to skyrocket.

Hi there and welcome :) Being Australian, I assumed WA was Western Australia but your use of the word "diaper" I'm thinking WA is an American abbreviation?

ETA I see it's been cleared up, lol :D

Damn...definitely don't need more taxes...maybe we'll stay here.

Hey, Ayla. :)

Hello Lexie,
I'm from California too, but would love to live up in Washington. It's 75 degrees here now and doesn't feel like winter. I know people with snow might be shocked that I'm complaining, but I want a reason to stay inside and cuddle, and for it to feel like winter .
