I am Catherine. I'm a friend of Hilary's from wayyyyyy back in 2003. She invited me. It's cool to be the foreigner for once. I am the only American on board at this time.

I am a SAH, homeschooling, no-vax mother. I cloth diapered and co-slept, as well. My boys are 8 and 5 (and 37 ;)). The boys still share a bed and occasionally sleep with me and the hubby.

My boys had measles at the time my youngest was 7 months old. I was leaning towards anti-vax at that time, but I was convinced after that.

I am a big supporter of informed consent and choice in all matters. Hilary asked me here, despite the fact that I am American, because I have experience in adminestering message boards and am married to a sys admin.

Hi, all. Pardon my dry sense of humor and tendency towards sarcasm.

Hi Cat : ) The only American eh? Wonderful, you can volunteer to sit in the hot seat for any dunking or squishy fruit throwing competitions :LMAO:I lived in the USA in California and Oregon for just over two years and I can't say that I miss it one bit. My one salvation in all that time was a gorgeous cosleeping, extended breastfeeding, sling wearing, homeschooling mama that I met at Trader Joe's! She was literally the only person in all that time that I saw slinging her babe. We exchanged emails under the nose of my disapproving mother-in-law. (She didn't like me public breastfeeding )

Haha the east coast is way more stuffy than the west. I can only imagine those looks!

Hi Cat. :) Dry sense of humor and sarcasm are easy to get used to. I live with them every day. :D

I saw one a picture once of one of those breastfeeding shawls and LMAO. Sorry totally irrelevant but the chat about breastfeeding looks made me think of those.

Anyway nice to meet you Cat.

I was publicly breastfeeding back in the late 1960s and not in hippie enclaves, either. Of course I usually draped a diaper over my shoulder. My favorite moment was a conversation with another mum when she told me wouldn't bf her kids because it was "animal-like." If I want to distinguish myself from the animals, I think bottle-feeding is a bit silly--how about speech and literacy and art?
