Any good info on flumist? I've only just learned of this thing and that it's live and shedding. But all I've read this morning is a bunch of different percent rates for transmissal to others and nothing on the percent if it actually works.
I know I have more things to worry about Brandon catching at a play place, but yesterday this mom came in with her to girls and after they were playing, said they just came from getting the flumist vax and that it was live. So of course all the kids had been playing with play food and pretending to eat it etc. They played about 1-2hrs.
Anyhow, last night Brandon started crying/fussing and had start of stuffy nose/congestion and this morning slight fever. I know he's close to the cycle of having another "just fever", but I found it odd that after playing with those girls he is sick today. I'm worried because he's already sick with ?? yet, and don't need more on top of it.
I know he can catch something out and about, but like I said-sort of coincidental.

This website is one of my faves as it's rather unbiased about medical information. "Just the facts Ma'am"

Thanks :) Those are some scary side effects and it seems they are still studying it. Where do they get all these study patients? And children? I feel bad for the one girl-she was only 18m old and got it, but it says not before 2 yrs.
Some I don't understand

Assuming a single transmission event (http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=25406) (isolation of the Type B vaccine strain), the probability (http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=5050) of a young child acquiring vaccine virus following close contact with a single FluMist vaccinee in this daycare setting was 0.58% (95% CI: 0, 1.7) based on the Reed-Frost model. With documented transmission of one Type B in one placebo subject and possible transmission of Type A viruses in four placebo subjects, the probability of acquiring a transmitted vaccine virus was estimated to be 2.4% (95% CI: 0.13, 4.6), using the Reed-Frost model.

I don't understand the percentage model. Is it the first percent or second percent for transmission?

And then they go on to say
This vaccine contains a weakened form of the flu virus. After receiving the vaccine, you may be able to infect others with flu for up to 3 weeks. Rarely, infections may occur in people in close contact with someone who has received this vaccine. Caution is advised if you have regular close contact with family/household members with weakened immune systems

And preg and nursing moms prob shouldn't take it. So how many preg moms out there are getting this for thier toddler?

Sheesh.

This vaccine has MSG in it. I think I'll pass on snorting that up my nose. :eyeroll:

So how many pregnant and nursing mothers have spouses who have the vaccine, or walk through Walmart, at the same time, and the pharmacists are spraying everyone up their noses....

are there signs warning immune suppressed folks to stay out of drug stores during squirting season?
