Provaccine information.
To be added to:
This is the New Zealand vaccination schedule (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/immunisation-schedule).
Added 2nd April 2009. This is a nifty new website, started by the New Zealand Ministry of Health, but be aware that it does NOT disclose all the information you need to know: http://health.flexible.net.nz/imres/nis-schedule.php?category=birth So you can click on each age, and open up the vaccine, looking at, for instance, constituents. If you take the BCG vaccine at birth, you will see that supposedly, it has nothing in it. however, if you read the "confidential" information here:
http://www.vaccineshoppecanada.com/secure/pdfs/ca/BCG_Vaccine_E.pdf (http://www.vaccineshoppecanada.com/secure/pdfs/ca/BCG_Vaccine_E.pdf)
then you learn a whole new story.
Google the vaccine name, with culture medium, or other key words with every vaccine in here, because there are considerable omissions.
This is the official parent immunisation booklet. http://www.healthed.govt.nz/uploads/docs/HE1323.pdf (http://www.healthed.govt.nz/uploads/docs/HE1323.pdf)
This is the New Zealand Immunisation Handbook (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/pagesmh/4617/$File/2006-immunisation-handbook-all.pdf). 2.7 mb
Or chose your own topic (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/immunisation-handbook-2006).
Auckland District Health Board’s Clinical Practice site (http://www.adhb.govt.nz/newborn/Guidelines/Infection/Immunisation/VaccinationSchedule.htm)covering all vaccinations.
This is the latest New Zealand Health provider Booklet. (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/pagesmh/7723/$File/41466_NatImmSched_Web.pdf) Again, if it disappears, I will put a copy here.
This is the September 2008 Ministry of Health letter (http://www.nzdoctor.co.nz/filedownload?id=7fe36c4e-acea-4ffd-b1d1-bd2e28b1bd63) sent to all doctors which includes the updated schedule.
The Immunization Advisory Centre has it's own website (http://forums.beyondvaccination.com/www.immune.org.nz) and one (http://www.immunisation.org.nz/)for health professionals (http://www.immunisation.org.nz/). Get to know their " information".
Easy to read print out of the NZ schedule (http://www.immune.org.nz/site_resources/Professionals/Immunisation%20Schedule/NZSCH-HP-0908_Immunisation_Schedule_table_IMAC_2008.pdf). Good to use when asking grandparents or parents how many of these shots they had, and how come they are alive.
New Zealand has a National Immunisation Register (http://www.moh.govt.nz/nir), which you are able to opt off, contrary to the usual advice given to parents Here is the English Brochure (http://www.healthed.govt.nz/uploads/docs/HE1501.pdf), and other languages (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/wpg_index/About-NIR%20health%20education%20resources) brochures. The information there is collected and used by the New Zealand Health Information Service (http://www.nzhis.govt.nz/moh.nsf/pagesns/61).
If you wish to OPT OFF you must request a form numbered HP3823 from the doctor's receptionist. Because they are actively discouraging people from opting off they are not putting that form on the web as a pdf. I have attached a scanned jpg of the OPTOFF form to this post.
The Royal New Zealand College of General practitioners (http://www.rnzcgp.org.nz/), is another website New Zealand parents might want to keep an eye on.
Keep an eye on the University of Otago (http://immunet.otago.ac.nz/) website as well.
Specific vaccines will be covered separately.
any relevant URLs provided by members, will be copied and pasted into here to keep everything together. Please let me know if a URL goes out of date. It's an observation of mine that provaccine websites tend to change their URL's all the time, so that everyone is left wondering. :bangshead:
