Just off the top of my head (& I'm fak)

It's a peruvian herb predominantly used for hormonal imbalances as well as *general wellbeing*

imo, the brand you buy seems to make a difference so make sure you buy quality...

I would say its a root food rather than a herb but there you go.
Both men and woman can use it for hormonal imbalance, adrenal burnout, low libido or just as tonic. Its rich in elements such as zinc and selemium.

I'm sure this is true for most herbs, vitamins, and minerals, so how do you 'make sure you buy quality'?

yup, pretty much! Price is a good indication... ie cheapo supermarket brands are not ideal. Packaging, is it in glass or plastic, or in the case of loose herbs is the packaging see through or dark? In terms of capsules/tablets, chose brands that have been "standardised" which means they are guaranteed to contain X amount of the therapeutic active ingredient of a herb in every capsule (believe it or not, this is sometimes not the case!) Check the strengths of the different brands + what other fillers they might use. And ask around. Most naturopath, herbalists, health food stores (provided they're reputable & not just there to make a buck) will let you know their favourites & customer feedback etc. Organic certification is another indicator.
