As you know, I have a dislike for post counts, particularly if people use them as some sort of status, or credibility stake. :eyeroll:

State your number of posts you would like, and I will put it up.

I'm not sure how many numbers the programme will take, but we could also take it to the limit, and soon find out...

If you want it periodically put on 2, then I would have to schedule that in a diary... :giggle:

I tried to put mine on 99,356,794,356 or some such number, and the admin panel spat that out, and left me with 99.

So 2 will do...

?? Why does it matter? How will it affect the running of the forum? I find looking at other people's post counts combined with looking at their join date useful in determining who is actively participating in the community. I don't see it as a status symbol, that's a bit odd. Admining a forum takes up a lot of time without creating extra work for yourself ;)

I've never been a post-count collector on all my forums. At MDC where I still visit almost every day I still have under 1000 lol and have been there for 5yrs.

I like to look at the number of posts a person has to determine how long and how active they are on a forum. I don't remember seeing anyone use that as a status symbol :giggle: If they do, then I haven't encountered anyone. I don't understand why do we have to do this task Hilary? Lets just keep it the way it is.

I couldn't care less about post counts either. I'm puzzled as to how anyone could consider it a status symbol :alien:

Like Ayla and Nirvana I find it useful in seeing how active someone is on the forum, but beyond that it's just a number.

I don't look at them at all.

I have way more to think about when I admin forums than dicking with post counts.

Well if that is the case and the majority aren't bothered... is there anyway to take them off altogether? They seem a little pointless to me.

There's a few of us who have said that we find them useful:)

That's fine. You'll just know that my post count might either disappear altogether or I might credit myself with a few million.

Yes, at Mothering, post counts were often used as either a status symbol, or in the case of others, posters would sarcastically ask people whether or not they actually spent any time looking after their children.

I do have better things to do, but... the forum has been very slow today.

I seem to be talking to myself. :giggle:

Third sign of madness or something.

Too much time online. You need to spend more time taking care of your (grown) sons and your (perfectly capable of taking care of himself) husband. And maybe your garden?

I've been on one board where the post counts were manipulated insanely and it did have its amusing moments. But I don't think it will work on a big board and hopefully Beyond Vaccination will end up being very big.

No, I think I need to do a few more blogs for my own site, and sort out resources for there.... and make tomato paste :D

maybe I should delete this aborted attempt at lightness :D

Hey, you are the admin :)

As you are discovering, this doesn't seem to translate into absolute power over the known universe...

Deleting the thread you can do.

I never thought being admin would translate into absolute power. It's just a reminder to me to just step back and only deal with what needs to be done.

Okay, hope the tomato paste turns out well. Does it require a lot of cooking down?

Momtezuma Tuatara

Yes, because I'm not prepared to leave it in the sun for three days for flies to settle on it. I've decided to bottle it as tomato puree...

That is an interesting solution to the problem. What will you do if the recipe calls for tomato paste?

If there is other liquid in the recipe you could just cut back to balance out the extra liquid in the puree as opposed to the paste.

I'll empty one jar into an enamel roasting pan, and put it in the bottom of the oven, when I have the oven on for something else, and reduce it down at that time.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've never made tomato paste, but I helped can tomatoes when I lived in rural Missouri for six years. That was my back to the land period. I'm much better suited to being a librarian than a gardener and food preservationist, though.

Is your own site the one linked to this board?

No, the website site is www.beyondconformity.org.nz (http://www.beyondconformity.org.nz)

This one will evetually have a website and blogs as well, but I've not got around to it.

As my life continues to evolve I'd be happy to help out with some of those things or other capacities with the board.
A combination of many things has brought me to find a new direction. Yesterday, I applied to Eastern Michigan University to obtain a Dietetics degree. I've enjoyed learning all I have from you and the others on this board and c2pp. It's made me realize that not only are these things important to the survival of my youngest but very key to a healthy life for the rest of us. As I spout information to my mother I tell her, not only do I want her to live a long life, but I want her to feel good while she's doing it.

Normally, I try to be encouraging in these circumstances, and in the case of yourself, I hope I will be proven wrong, and the university will prove to be useful to you.

I have another friend who has been going through a similar degree in USA, and what she is being taught in University has us simply rolling with laughter in the aisles. :chair: :alien:

 The problem for her, is that it's making her really angry in class, and she attempted to 'correct' the lecturer, who didn't appreciate being told by a student that the University was massively "out of date"... (to put it politely).

That's really disappointing and no doubt frustrating for her MT.

I wonder if there are any unis/colleges near you that offer courses in Naturopathic Nutrition momofsaa? Perhaps that might be worth considering as well.

MT--I will definitely keep that in mind. I will be taking it through distant education and the main reason I decided to seek it now instead of later is because I feel that I'll be studying all that information on my own.
I'm glad you chose to paint the real picture for me so that I can be sure I know what I'm getting into. As it is, I feel like I've spent a lot of time on the wrong path.

That's something I will certainly check into. I may really have my hands full with that and a regular program. I think ideally I'd like to have both degrees so that I can bring the naturopathy to people that haven't been off the beaten path.

UPDATE: I did some checking and I think I will receive my Bachelor's as planned and become an RD (Registered Dietitian) as planned and continue on with my Masters in Holistic Nutrition.

Well, hopefully, if needed, you can re-educate them as you go :D
