I use a natural based insect repellant made by a local company here for myself and my kids. It's mainly essential oils etc. I prefer this type than using a DEET or other chemical product. It's important here due to the high dengue risk we have.
I recieved a consent form from the school on Friday asking if it's ok to use 'Aeroguard roll on oudourless'. It contains a chemical called Picaridin. Anyone know more about this? I have googled and from what I can see it's a 'safer' alternative than using DEET? Not sure though as it's still a chemical. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Can you not send your kids to school with their own repellant to use?

I was just thinking about that this morning. I will have a look around for some info. I really like the fact they are giving Aereogard to schoolkids instead of focusing on high mosquito areas and mosquito prevention education like tipping out water out of containers in the yard after rains. Sort of like how they go give all babies Hep B blanketly instead of the ones who actually are at risk.

Picaridin is made by Bayer. Gee it sounds so safe already. Its other names are KBR3023, Bayrepel, Hepidanin, and Autan Repel so googling by those oth er names might be more informative.
