Does anybody know about the long term effectiveness of the MMR. My friend who is 25 recieved the MMR at school (in NZ) and wanted to know if she would have immunity today. :eyeroll:
Thanks

I dont know, but I would think the only way to know for sure would be to get tested. I know people who have had immunity still and those who havent so there is no hard and fast rule IYKWIM. Its very individual.
Immunity to what, measles? I wouldn't hold my breath. :giggle:
She could get tested, but low antibodies don't necessarily mean she's not immune and high antibodies will not necessarily tell her whether it's from MMR or natural. Mercks package insert suggests that antibodies were detected 'in most individuals' 11-13 years post primary vaccination. I guess nobody checked any further...

Possibly. she could have her titres done, (blood test and antibodies checked).
A friend of mine told me that her "unvaccinated" daughter started med school six years ago, and had titres done for everything, and didn't need any vaccines at all (which surprised me.. I thought she'd need at least diphtheria, polio and tetanus) but that her vaccinated class mates all "needed" booster shots.
But this young girl learned nothing from that experience. She is now rabidly provaccine, and considers that her parent's refusal to vaccinate her was criminal :giggle:shame she's still alive really...:alien:

Yes, rabidly high antibodies, can also mean that your body hasn't dealt with the virus properly, and can be a cause of all sorts of problems. Been there, done that... :D

That is actually funny, in a weird sort of way.
When you think of all the horrified parents, whose grown up kids are turning against vaccines and "endangering" their grandchildren.
You can raise them, but once they are raised they go their own way--
