She has really bad pneumonia that has spread through her body. They have her on a ventilator and she's not looking too good. What kind of suggestions can I make? She's had pneumonia many times before but never this bad.

Golden seal is one of the most powerful antimicrobial herbs. High doses of Vit C. Perhaps a "green" drink such as spirulina.
You do need to check interactions though, particularly if she's on blood thinning /blood pressure medication.
What about using some essential oils in the room to help her chest? Thyme, Eucalyptus, Pine, Lemon, Basil, Peppermint will all help

Thank you. I will definitely pass on the info. I know she is on major antibiotics, but not sure about the thinners, so I will make sure to address that. Thanks again!

I was talking to a New Zealand doctor the other day about something like this, and she said that she uses liposomal vitamin C with serious pneumonia, and sometimes, it's almost "miraculous" the way it works.

What is Liposomal Vitamin C?

It's a type of vitamin C which is absorbed directly through the mucous membranes thereby bypassing the digestions process. It means that the body can receive much higher doses of vitamin C per kg of body weight, and no diarrhoea...
conversely, I also think that even when someone takes liposomal vitamin C, they should also take oral, in order to clear the gut out.
LovingMama, one thing I forgot to say is something really interseting. Anyone who is constipated and who gets pneumonia, can get it very very seriously.
That's even written up in medical literature, though I bet you that not too many doctors have read those articles :giggle:
So the first thing I'd do with someone with pneumonia, is do whatever it takes to clear out the bowel, and then make sure that it's kept clean.
The chinese have it right when they say that no-one can get well who is constipated....

I passed on the information and she said she'll be looking into it, She said her mom has Sepsis and Bacterial Miningitis(spelling?). They said she should recover fully but it will be a while and about 2 weeks in intensive care.
Again thanks for the help!

bacterial meningitis and sepsis requires huge doses of vitamin C, and there are a lot of medical articles on that. If you have my second book, look up the chapter on sepsis. All the medical articles are referenced in there.

What is Liposomal Vitamin C?
http://www.livonlabs.com/liposomal-encapsulation.html
Found this...thought it was a good explanation. Seems like this would be a far superior vitamin c vs any other form including SA just because it is more bioavaliable??? Seems like it is very pricey though. Also does it matter what the original form was? I have looked at several brands and some list ascorbic acid as the form, others list sodium asborbate..Most don't specify and just list Vitamin C. I guess what Im asking is if one wanted to try this and compare it to SA, what should one look for to make sure it is a quality supplement? Here are some brands I have found so far

It is pricey. But small amounts do so much more. So if you are really sick and wanting maximum hit, it's the best to use. It's effective enough to replace intravenous vitamin C. Since hospitals won't do that, liposomal is the best rear-guard sneaky approach. preferable to hitting your head against the hospital brick wall.

Liposomal vit. C sounds like an excellent thing to try with this poor lady. I hear goldenseal is the champion herbal antibiotic in the herbal armentarium. Maybe you could slip her some of that too.
The story I heard from a herbalist was that her mother was in hospital after a hip op. and got a superbug in the wound. She got it infesting her bones, and antibiotics were losing the battle.
It was life or death, so this herbalist, her daughter, after about 2 weeks of this in the hospital (from memory) slipped her some goldenseal. She immediately started getting better.
