Read Hilary's Bone 101 (http://www.beyondvaccination.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369) completely, including the links she provides.

If you can, buy the book or the e-book "Cure Tooth Decay" by R. Nagel. Great info there, based on Weston A Price research.
Nourishing Traditions cookbook is also great plus informative about minerals, vitamins, gelatin etc.
Healing Power of Minerals, Special Nutrients, and Trace Elements - Paul Bergner is also good for learning about minerals and how they work in your body and how to balance them. It is hard to get and expensive off amazon. I will be getting this soon so can share tidbits if needed.

The minerals that make up the bone matrix are calcium and phosphorous. Conventional professionals ie. doctors and dentists will only focus on those two when it comes to teeth or bone.
However, there are other minerals and vitamins which are essential for assimiliation of calcium and phosphorous by the body. If there is tooth decay or demineralisation, it is very likely that there is a deficiency of those other minerals and vitamins in the body, not just calcium and phosphorous.

The minerals and vitamins we need to pay particular attention to are boron, magnesium, silicea, vitamin a, c, d, k. There are many more minerals that contribute to building bone and teeth, so using bone broths for re-mineralisation covers a lot of your mineral bases PLUS it provides geltain for the collagen in your body which is also used in building bone and teeth.

Another thing to keep in mind is that yeast locks minerals in bread so you won't get much minerals from yeast bread. Opt for kefir bread, sourdough bread etc.

Vitamin and minerals in food

Vitamin K forms a mineral bond with calcium and phosphorus, pulls them into the bone matrix. Lots of children can be deficit in this if they are picky about eating greens. This thread discusses hiding vegies in food. (http://joyousbirth.info/forums/showthread.php?t=14173)

Vitamin K rich foods include; kale, collards, spinach turnip/beet/mustard/dandelion greens, brussels sprouts, broccoli, spring/scallion onions, parsley, spinach noodles, asparagus, sauerkraut, endive, cabbage, frozen blueberries, green peas, sprouts, kiwi fruit, celery, peas. Ferment your milk and cabbage - those bacteria in fermented foods help make vitamin K in your gut!

To make this post shorter - this is a list of "best bet" food sources of vitamins - http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/Diet_Nutrition/vitamin_best_bet_foods.htm

And "best bet" foods for minerals - http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/Diet_Nutrition/mineral_best_bet_foods1.htm

Given that getting the "balance" right is important - for example from Hilary's Bone 101 (http://www.beyondvaccination.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369) ;

Calcium, magnesium and phosphorus levels are kept in a seesaw balance by the parathyroid hormones. If calcium goes up, magnesium goes down and vice versa. With a low magnesium intake, calcium goes out of the bones to increase tissue levels, while a high magnesium intake causes calcium to go out of the tissues into the bones. A high phosphorus intake without a high calcium or magnesium intake causes calcium to leach from the bones and leave the body with the urine. A high phosphorus intake with high calcium and magnesium leads to bone mineralisation.I've gone and found this useful guide that tells you the likely nutritional content of food (including vitamins and minerals) so you can work out the ratios.

Remineralising Teeth & Bone

Bone Broth recipes (http://westonaprice.org/foodfeatures/broth.html)

Improving diet/nutrition at every meal

Try to avoid snacking too much in between meals, so saliva has time to remineralise teeth.

Brush teeth EVERY time after something is eaten or drank (that is not water) to remove food particles. Essential if food is apt to get trapped in holes or in between teeth.

Use xylitol to rinse out mouth or coat teeth with after a toothbrush. You can read a thread about xylitol here (http://joyousbirth.info/forums/showthread.php?t=18761). It is safe to leave on the teeth and overnight and will prevent caries bacteria from going to work.

Cut out all sugar except for xylitol and fresh fruit. No dried fruit. No sugar, no honey, no maple syrup, no processed foods, read labels on tinned stuff etc. No more banana/butterstoch pudding for YOU!

Cut out white products - flours, breads, muffins, biscuits etc. Buy spinach pasta, wholegrain pasta, organic ramen etc and don't forget to use xylitol after eating carbs.

Try finding bread alternatives. Yeast risen bread locks nutrients in, try fermented breads instead.

GC Tooth Mousse (http://www.gcasia.info/content_GC_Tooth_Mousse.html) (make sure its the original and not the “Plus” version which has fluoride in it)
Cheapest online source: http://www.teeth.net.au for $20.75 (http://www.teeth.net.au/) (Shipping is about 12 dollars regardless of how many you get so get more than one)
Cheapest IRL source : If you have private health insurance, you can buy GC tooth mousse from your dentist and claim it back from your private health fund. It ends up being about $6 out of pocket for you. ( Tip from acaciamama)

From Green Pastures you can get (they have good quality products, but EXPENSIVE);

Fermented Cod Liver Oil $69.93 (http://www.greenpastures.com.au/fish-oils-c-13.html) The Cinnamon flavoured one is newer and has a 10:1 ratio of Vitamin A to Vitamin D which is great since you need to take enough Vitamin D to help your body deal with the Vitamin A. Plus there is the EPA and DHA content, vitamin K and Omega 3,6,7 and 9, Price Factor X. If you have concerns about high Vitamin A, half the dose and read the articles available on weston a price and green pastures about vitamin a / d

High Vitamin Butter Oil $98.10 (http://www.greenpastures.com.au/butter-oil-c-14.html) on special normally around $109. I got the liquid as half a teaspoon equals 5 capsules. Better value. There are flavoured ones, got the original cos it was on special. Vitamin A, D, X-factor, Wulzen factor. WARNING: Everyone says it tastes foul. Tips coming soon for how the taste can be concealed in food!

Xylitol 500g $15.30 (http://www.naturalhealthorganics.com.au/Sweetlife-Perfect-Sweet-Xylitol-pr-2095.html) (or your local hfs is likely to have it!)

Use Xylitol for on top of Weetbix, as a sweetner for herbal teas or hot cocoa/cacao (make sure its 100%cocoa/cacao not a blend) as a mouth rinse, etc. You can make a xylitol paste with water to apply on teeth after you eat carbs.

I've been looking into ways to help straighten out dd#2's teeth a bit. We were vegans until she was 2 1/2 which I am sure has something to do with it. dd#3 is fine. No decay problems tho, just an overbite. I'm gonna experiment with some craniosacral therapy & also lots of good bone nutrients. Since we are heading into winter, I figured bone broth every day in some form & also I will try to get the fermented foods organised & some fermented CLO. I can't afford butter oil as well & we do get pastured butter here.
