So my best friend and her husband and 15 month old daughter just got back from Mexico on Saturday. She called me last night to say her daughter was ill with a high fever and vomiting. They took her to the ER and they tested her for the flu. She tested + for type A and they are sending the swab to the state health dept to test for swine flu. They have been instructed to stay home (no work) until they get the results. (Although they both went to their own doctors as instructed today  How is that quarantining??) The parents have both been prescribed Tamiflu although neither one of them has symptoms of the flu at this point. They are both very mainsteam...their daughter is fully vaccinated on schedule. (they said she had an ear infection on top of the flu too). My friend was telling me how she has been giving her tylenol and motrin :( to help with the ear infection pain and the fever. I know she is not open to anything I have to say because even before I opened my mouth after she said they were taking Tamiflu she said "I know it's not your way of doing things but.....".

I feel bad for her daughter I really hope she will be ok and it isn't swine flu, although if it were what difference would it make?? She still just has a flu. Needless to say I don't think they will be attending my son's first B-day party this weekend and I'm actually kind of relieved....When I heard about the swine flu and knowing they had just been in Mexico, I'd rather they stay away for the time being (God Im a bad friend!). This may be the first confirmed case in my state. Hopefully not though :( Sorry for Rambling. Im just worried

Ohh I really hope it's not, that poor little baby. And you're not a bad freind at all - I'd be wishing they stayed away too.

I spoke to them yesterday...the baby is on tamilfu too! My friend said the baby was better so that's good, but now her husband is starting to sneeze and feel crappy so it looks like he's getting whatever it is...still no word if it is swine flu or regular flu. The baby is on antibiotics too b/c she has an ear infection :eyeroll:. That poor little body!!!! At least I convinced my friend to give her probiotics!!

They just got word...NO swine flu...just regular old flu....and they all got needlessly dosed up with that crap :eyeroll:. The baby is better but has diarrhrea...probably from the Tamilfu!

particularly as ordinary flu is "resistant" to Tamiflu.

But Rumsfeld will be pleased!!!

He gets his money regardless.
