The current template, as much as I love the notepad/pencil look, needs to be updated. I don't know enough about vbulletin coding to update it completely to be compatible with our current version of forum software.

So here are a few free vbulletin template/skins sites. Keep in mind we want a template that is 3.8.2 or at least 3.8.x compatible.

If I find any I like I'll link them to here. If you are interested in having a say on what the forum looks like visually, get posting here :)

http://freevbulletintemplates.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=27 (Click on Skin Demo, down the bottom there is a dropdown box that you can alternate in between "looks" to check out the different ones)

Nice simple blue/green one - http://www.themers.org/vbulletin-skins/6073-free-vbulletin-3-8-x-theme-skin-crastel-professional-style.html

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=237 (you cant download til you are a member, but non members can view what the skins look like.)

I like this one http://www.tbdstyles.com/index.php?styleid=38 (can change the colour to anything)

Out of the box will do just fine. I actually like the red colour.... do you want me to buy it? I'm not sure of the protocols though...

On page two, Freddy changed the logo to the gif in my signature...

Actually, I think I've changed my mind. I think I do like Blaze. I presume the blaze's flicker on new posts, and the more I look at the out of the box below, I'm wondering if that would be a distraction. although it's the same colour combination, the flames are softer in shape...

I hear that VB 4 comes out in June and that will require new templates. Sigh.

Is there any point in changing this one now, only to have to change to another one in June?

I hate change.

I like it the way it is. What are the problems with staying the same?

Mind you I'd still be washing my clothes in the river with no TV if I had the choice.:LMAO:

When I look at them again I love the black backgrounds... must be the rebel in me. Or that I'm married to an Upper Hutt boy.

The forum will not be won or lost on its skin... so will trust that you guys get it right.

I resign if we have a black skin. Urgh....

The current template, according to Quickening, is unstable. Some of the coding doesn't fit with the last update.

Ah... I see Quickening is mucking around with the default setting...

On the v-bulletin base.. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=55 they have four defaults down the bottom left thingy. I prefer grey fixed to white fixed. Any thoughts?

Oh, I definitely don't like black.

I'm not too bothered by any other colours. Something soothing - blues/greens etc works for me though.

hehe...Magical, I'm now going to imagine you as a rocker chick in black t-shirt rather than your avatar image of soft and ethereal looking...

MT, I like that blue/white one with the fading colour as an option if that is compatible.

At the moment, I'm going with the one we have as a default. If you want any other skin as an option, then please put a URL to it here.

HOWEVER, we had a discussion on this earlier. All skins opted for, I am paying for. Even this one. It might be "free", as might my books, theoretically, but I KNOW the slog that goes into being there for other people, so I will be donating Miners $50.00 for the 3.8 default screen.

Therefore, I feel it only fair that if people are going to make use of options, then perhaps they should consider donating to this site, to Quickening for her work, because she's the one who does all the work and fixes coding errors and tries to work out why pdfs won't load, and keeps the board running ???

 What do you think?

We're going to update this skin to its current 3.8 version which Miner has released on his website. The board might look weird for a while today as I work on it and change the image files back to the green we are using. Thank you for your kind suggestion Hilary, I wouldn't mind that at all! :) I will have a look for paypal donate buttons to integrate into vbulletin in a bit.

A worker is worthy of their "hire", Quickening. Unfortunately, socialist mentality often considers that everyone is owed a living by the state, activists and everyone else to boot. I don't want that mentality here. I hope that this board will become a community of contributors of both information, expertise, and where appropriate, financial support.

I think a paypal button would be good.
