Wonder-Full

Hi, I live in the lower north island with hubby and my children ds (5.5) and dd (3.5). I met Hilary back in 2003 when I was researching vaccinations (ds was 6mths old and not vaccinated at that stage) and spent a lot of time devouring her posts and learnt a lot about nutrition and it's importance on the immune system and general health.
I have always had a natural living aspect about myself, but it's only really become more so since having kids. My first real eco decision was to cloth nappy my kids and it's just grown from there. These days I seem to make more on the fringe lifestyle choices and feel a bit of a :alien: (although less so now that I've found half a dozen fellow natural living, homeschooling, gardening mama's as a wonderful support group).
A friend spoke to me when I was pregnant with ds about becoming informed about vaccinating and it took me till he was 6wks old and due for his first jab to make my final decision not to and we haven't looked back. A few years prior to having children I started using homeopathy and that is our main means of treating illness. I have been fortunate to find a GP (several actually) who support our non-vax, not medicating fevers and trying out natural remedies before using ABs (which we haven't had to use to date).
More about me. I took a leap last year and started up a permaculture style garden and have discovered that I love it, love the connection to the earth, love the sense of achievement and love the peace that I find while gardening. After reading another post here - I think it's a sign of getting old (all 36yrs lol). Other signs of age seem to be discovering crochet, wanting to knit, learning traditional skills such as making cheese, butter and jam (mostly as just once off interests to "know how"). And although it's not official yet, we are homeschooling the kids in a "natural learning" style. I've been blogging our journey towards a simple life and that too has become an enjoyable passtime.
Today our homeschooling group gathered at my house and we had a solar cook up using homemade cookers - took about 3hrs to cook our food, but we had a lovely tasty meal at the end!
Over summer we plan on getting away camping a few times (including the organic River Festival which is quickly becoming an annual thing for us).
Nice to meet you all and thanks Hilary for inviting me along.:D
