If a baby contracts whooping cough, must the disease run it's course of suffocating coughing? Or can it be stopped in it's early stages?

I've been paranoid that my DD was developing pertussis and that I'm just waiting for the 2nd stage to hit (whilst practicing good health).
Can I prevent it from going further (without antibiotics)

Hi, check out the post at the top of this forum (pertussis) on aeroplane treatment posted by MT.

Not all babies have suffocating coughing. it just depends.

But apart from altitude if you really want to do that, because it's a toxin mediated disease, vitamin C helps thin the mucus, and reduces the severity.
